Bringing together young people from different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds – this is one of the strengths of the Schoenstatt Girls‘ Youth in Cape Town, South Africa. Through our programs, the young women are able to get to know each other and to form lasting friendships. Because even 29 years after the fall of the Apartheid Regime, South Africa is divided, both economically and ethnically.

How you can help with your donation

With 35 EURO you can enable a young person to participate in a three-day summer camp.

20 EURO are necessary for a girl to participate in one of four leadership training weekends.

With 10 EURO you can sponsor a child from Burundi or Central Africa, so that they can spend a happy, carefree day at our center.

Therefore, in order to contribute to the unity of the country, it is important to create platforms where young people from different backgrounds can meet each other. The activities we have to offer are very popular with girls and young women because they give them a new perspective and help them in their everyday lives.

Our problem, however, is that many of the young people are not able to afford the participation and travel costs. Your donation will help us to realize the dream of a united South Africa.

Many of our participants come from areas of Cape Town where violence is high, making it unsafe for them to walk down the streets. Spending three days in a peaceful space, where they don’t have to worry about someone following them, and being able to leave their room door unlocked and feel safe makes a huge difference to them. It gives them a few days of peace and freedom. Some girls live in houses shared by many families, with each family having only one room and sharing a small kitchen. Life is a daily struggle.
