The stated mission of our “Helping Hands” project is to reach out to people who currently have difficulty putting food on the table and who receive little or no help from elsewhere. For this purpose, we have identified and verified households with problems. Our Schoenstatt Center in Constantia serves as an active collection and distribution center.

How you can help with your donation
With 15 EURO you can sponsor a food package with staples such as rice, mielie flour, canned food, sugar, pasta, tea, salt, flour, oil and occasional treats.

- Providing 30 registered „households in need“ with at least one food package monthly.
- If funds permit: support a community soup kitchen in Khayelitsha Township and organize an annual fun day for the children.
The contents of our food packages vary depending on available funds.
Many of the households we deliver packages to are headed by grandmothers who are caring for their grandchildren because they have been abandoned by their parents. Most of these parents are alcoholics or take drugs and cannot take care of their children. Thus, the grandmothers are left to support the children with their meager pensions. Since this is not enough to pay for food, school fees, clothing, etc., they rely on charity. The rising cost of living exacerbates the problem.
